Are parents responsible for educational success of their kids? part 2

In an article for the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung a teacher explains her perspective on how family background influences students’ behaviour, opportunities and success at school.

(The world of persons with little education is completely different from the world of educated people. Many of those reproached (as unfit) have a different code of conduct. They come to the teachers’ consultation smacking chewing gum, they take calls during the school theatre recital… I am not surprised any more. The world of these persons, it wavers. Money and support are rare commodities. The people who live in this world easily fall prey to seduction, also from advertising. They are weakened by their lives’ circumstances, often since childhood. In short: They cannot manage any better.)
